A rare example of a very early Ercol Windsor 'Easy Tub Chair', model number 176.
This model was the first upholstered chair produced by Ercol. Designed to comply with the government's Utility requirements after WW2, the chair made its debut at the Furniture Exhibition, February 1951 and was later displayed at the Festival Of Britain three months later.
The coil spring base predates the standard pirelli webbing, the design was a blueprint for future Ercol armchair designs.
The chair is great condition for its age, it is structurally sound with no chips or damage to the wood. The finish has worn away here and there but is overall in good shape.
The cushion has been replaced by a previous owner and is therefore is in good condition. There is a hole in the cover on the underside which is not noticeable when in use. Due to the cushion being a replacement it can easily be recovered to a fabric of your choice.
